Other News: SEIU 265 began our contract negotiations with Rose Hills Company in January 2019 What will forming a union guarantee? Forming a union can only guarantee one thing: when workers stick together we have more bargaining power than we do as scattered individuals. After you vote to form a union, you — with the assistance of union staff — will negotiate a contract. Your employer is guided by the NLRA rules to negotiate with you as unionized workers about wages, benefits and working conditions. The contract you negotiate will be legally binding on the employer. While there are no guarantees or promises. What you choose to negotiate in your contract, is only the beginning. It is always a tough fight because your employer can outspend or out- lawyer a union team, but they cannot show more heart and soul and fight than you ! You can see what other SEIU Local 265 members have negotiated by reviewing existing union contracts. Acting as a union, workers can make sure that the administration follows the contract. The organization SEIU offers no promises for what will be in a contract. We promise to work hard and stand with you on this journey! |
