SEIU Local 265 is the Union of CEMETERY workers and we have worked as a team (workers and Union volunteers) to lobby legislators, send out public notices and share the work of the Cemetery Professional. 
The Contract for Rose Hills Interment Services Department is not ratified.

Why a UNION?

For years the employees in this department have sought to unionize because the industry is difficult enough with physical requirements, intense weather conditions and grieving family expectations, and then they faced issues with bosses. They finally said, "Enough!".

What's next for the workers at Rose Hills?

We are currently in negotiations for our first contract with this employer. This is where the workers must decide what language they want to see in a contract and then propose it to the company. The results will vary. The company may fight the workers, this is expected since SCI is known to fight against unions. The workers will decide and vote on any contract that is Collectively bargained and agreed up. Stay tuned for updates.
