New Beginnings at the Nations Largest Cemetery/Mortuary! California hasn't seen anything yet!
After two appeals Rose Hills failed at trying to stop you.
On October 13, 2017 while most people think of this date as bad luck, the working people of the Interment Department at Rose Hills Memorial Park in CA, held an NLRB election and won! The company tried ferociously with captive audience meetings and 1-1 meetings, mailers and fake flyers that were said to be union created. The employees held tough! on August 21 2018 we received notice we won the appeal Rose Hills filed. On to bargaining !!
Cemetery Workers want dignity
- For a cemetery who touts DIGNITY as one of their monikers, they don't give that to the workers. Workers were allegedly called "Burros" and told to go find another job if they wanted to get better wages. Rose Hills is Americas largest one location Cemetery and Mortuary and says they are "Incomparable" to any other in this industry except, when it comes to wages, benefits and respect to the workers, say the men of Interment.
What's next for the workers at Rose Hills?
The next step is a contract campaign. This is where the workers must decide what language they want to see in a contract and then propose it to the company. The results will vary. The company may fight the workers, this is expected since SCI is known to fight against unions. The workers will decide and vote on any contract that is Collectively bargained and agreed up. Stay tuned for updates.
